NORTH EAST – The Eisenhower Knights took home three individual championships on their way to the team title at the North East Wrestling Classic on Saturday.

Logan Jaquay at 106, Sam Holt at 138 and Spencer Head at 152 all won individual titles, as the Knights topped the 13-team field with 195 1/2 points. Jamestown was second with 161.

“Winning a tournament is always nice,” said Eisenhower coach Kris Black. “Obviously the highlights would be the there guys that won – Logan, Spencer and Sam. Sam’s a senior and it was nice to see him win. We’ve moved him around some and for him to get a championship … good for him.”

Placing second for the Knights were Easton Hedman (113), Josh Bortz (126), Nate Holt (132) and Alex Barnett (160), while Garrett Head (145), Justin Hagberg (182) and Joey Bauer (220) took third, Ethan Chambers (170) fourth and Matt Huling (195) fifth.

“Even though it was an individual tournament, the guys did a good job coming together as a team,” Black said. “Individually, some guys were able to go outside their comfort level.”

The Knights have another big week coming up, starting today when they host Saegertown.

“That’s a big region match, then we have Iroquois on Wednesday and the Sharon Duals on Saturday,” Black said. “Saegertown’s a good team, they always are. We have to regroup and get ready to go.”

It was a busy week all around for Eisenhower wrestling, as Ethan Kellogg (120) took second at the Corry JV Tournament, while Alex Hummel (130) and Cael Black (210) took second and Gannon Jaquay (130) third at the junior high level.
