Knights finish 7th at Tool City

Garrett Head and the EIsenhower Knights earned a 7th place finish at the Tool City Tournament on Saturday in Meadville.

MEADVILLE – Eisenhower went to the Tool City Tournament on Friday and Saturday and came away with a seventh-place team finish.

Coming off their big win over Fort LeBoeuf, the Knights didn’t send their full team down, as they are dealing with a few bumps and bruises.

They did, however, turn in a number of strong performances, with Spencer Head finishing second, Logan Jaquay third, Garrett Head fourth and Nate Holt and Matt Huling sixth in their respective weight classes.

“The guys wrestled well this weekend,” said Eisenhower coach Kris Black. “Tool City is a meat grinder. There are a lot of good schools that we don’t see, so it’s good to see some of that competition and pick some stuff up. There are quite a few state-ranked wrestlers and at least three state champions that were there. Obviously you want to win, but you want to get as much mat time as you can and battle through each match. Everybody we took down won a couple of matches.”

The Knights have another big week coming up, as they host Union City on Tuesday, travel to Harbor Creek on Thursday and take part in the Falconer Tournament on Friday and Saturday.

“We have a big week ahead of us,” Black said.
