COCHRANTON – Coming off a big win, it’s easy for a team to have a let down.

That wasn’t the case for Eisenhower, however, as they followed up a victory over Region 3 leader Cambridge Springs on Tuesday with a hard-fought 50-47 road win over Cochranton on Friday.

With the game tied 47-47 late in the fourth, Tajah Warren found Zack Fincher open for 3, and Fincher buried it was 3.5 seconds left to give the Knights (9-6 overall, 7-2 Region 3) the victory.

“Wild game, happy we came out with a win,” said Eisenhower coach Ryan Williams. “We didn’t really play well, but played hard. Nice execution on the final play where Tajah hit Zack for a 3 with 3.5 seconds left.”

That play followed a 3 by Drew Williams that tied the game 45-45 with 2:11 left.

Eisenhower got out of that gates strong, leading 28-23 at the half and was actually up nine going into the fourth quarter.

But Cochranton and most notably Kohl Bernarding, had an answer.

The Cardinals (10-6, 5-3) made five 3s in the fourth quarter – three by Bernarding and two from Tanner Fox to get back in it before the late-game dramatics from the Knights.

Jaydon Hayes, who has moved into third in the District 10 scoring race, netted a team-high 16 points, while Warren finished with 13.

Eisenhower also won the JV game, 39-36. Owen Trumbull had nine points to lead the way.
