Tidioute girls drop tough battle with Forest

Nakiesha Krouse scored 24 point, but the Tidioute Lady Bulldogs dropped a hard-fought battle with Forest Area on Tuesday, 55-1.

“The girls played a tremendous first and four quarter tonight,” said TCCS coach Christy Valentine. “I’m very pleased with how much the girls have improved after playing Forest only two weeks ago and losing by more than 30. It will be exciting to see them play again in January.

In addition to Krouse’s 24 points, while Sonny Henderson had seven points and eight rebounds and Shelby Protor eight rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Jasmine Ginnery had 17 points to pace Forest.

SMETHPORT – Sheffield’s girls basketball team played an “uninspired” game at Smethport Wednesday, falling to the Hubbers 48-25.

“We played uninspired and it showed,” said Sheffield coach Brandon Troutman.

Smethport led 28-5 at the half and standout Abbey Woodard nearly outscored the Wolverines by herself, netting 21 points.

Woodard dominated the first quarter, scoring 11 of her 21 points in the frame. She also helped her teammates limit the Wolverines to a single field goal, from Mya Grubbs.

Sheffield scored all three of its second quarter points from the free throw line.

Eliza Davidson scored all of her team leading seven points in the fourth quarter. Lexi Lyon added six points in the loss.

The Wolverines will be on the road again Friday when they travel to Port Allegany.

Smethport was able to knock down 3 of 5 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter to come away with a 20-17 junior varsity win over Sheffield.

Lily Lauffenburger led the Wolverines with five points and Jerika Dexter added four points in the loss.
