RIDGWAY 3, SHEFFIELD 0

RIDGWAY – Sheffield hit the road to take on a tough Ridgway team and came up on the short end of a 3-0 decision – 14-25, 22-25, 14-25.

“We were just flat tonight,” said Sheffield coach Melissa Lemay, whose team was coming off a win over Brockway.

“We struggled at times with passing and when you can’t pass you can’t run your offense.”

Leading Sheffield were Mya Grubbs with 14 assists and Eliza Davidson with 11 service points, 10 digs and five kills.

“Ridgway is a strong team,” Lemay said. “We got down 20-12 in the second game and came back to take a 22-20 lead, but they came back and won. This team isn’t quitting when they’re down, the issue sometimes is not getting down like that.”

The JV team fell 17-25, 13-25. Lily Lauffenberger had three service points – all aces.

Sheffield will now have two days of practice before returning to action on Thursday at Johnsonburg.
