Fadale, Grubbs net hat tricks as Lady Dragons roll past Oil City

Warren forward Lexie Grubbs controlls the ball during Tuesday’s game against Oil City. Grubbs, a senior, netted a hat trick in the 14-0 win.
The Warren Lady Dragons got on the pitch for their home opener at War Memorial Field on Tuesday and didn’t disappoint.
Behind hat tricks from MJ Fadale and Lexie Grubbs, the Lady Dragons (1-1) cruised to a 14-0 non-region win over Oil City.
“We want to play our style of soccer and we were able to do that in the second half,” said Warren coach Jeremy Bickling. “For being the first day of school, the girls were a little bit anxious and I could see that in the first half.”
The first ten minutes of the game they showed some nerves, but after that the Warren girls settled in, scoring five goals in a four minute stretch.
Fadale got the scoring started off a feed from Mackenzie Bickling, and from there it was smooth sailing.

Warren freshman Kyliegh Wilson.
Fadale scored twice more in the stretch, as did Jessica Susz and Kyra Wotorson. It was the first varsity goal for the freshman Wotorson.
Senior Taryn Phillips found the back of the net later in the half off a feed from another freshman, Kyliegh Wilson, and Wilson scored her first varsity goal10 minutes later, sandwiched in between Grubbs’ first goal that made it 8-0 at halftime.
Brook Neureiter started off the second half with a goal off a corner kick from Bickling and Grubbs scored twice just a minute apart less than 10 minutes into the half to make it 11-0.
Wotorson added her second goal just before the heavy rain came and sophomore Emily Egger scored twice in the final 15 minutes.
Bickling had a team-high four assists.

Warren is coming off of its second straight Region 5 championship and does return plenty of experience, but they still start six freshman and sophomores – which has their coach excited.
“To know what they’re going to be down the road, not just this year, is so exciting,” he said. “They have to see the big picture and what we’re working towards, and they get it. I’m super excited. This is a young team with so much talent.”
This game was also a nice rebound from a 4-2 loss to Meadville on Saturday in their season opener, a game in which they led 2-1 at halftime (Meadville eliminated Warren in the playoffs last season).
This begins a busy stretch for the Lady Dragons, which continues Saturday when they host North East (11 a.m.).
“It’s been a lot of training,” coach Bickling said. “We want to get into that rhythm. We’re basically playing three games a week for all of September, so they’re excited to get out and start getting some W’s in the column.”
