Fighting Tigers earn awards
The Fighting Tigers Karate Team competed in the King Cobra Summer Slam Saturday in Fairview. The nationally rated PKA and PKRA competition drew teams from across the tri-state area.
The following team members won awards in forms, fighting and weapons. Emma Gray won a 1st in Weapons and a 1st in Forms; Advanced Division. Madison Carnahan won a 1st in Forms and a Second in Weapons; advanced division and Tiffany Swanson from the Kane Karate School won a 1st in Forms and a 1st in Fighting ; Novice Division.
The team is coached by Master Instructor Kimio Nelson.

Photo submitted to Times Observer The Southern Tier Elite 14U fastpitch softball team, from northwestern Pennsylvania and southwestern New York, finished 5-1 this weekend to place second in the eight-team Diamond Dawg 14U Tournament in Wellsville, N.Y., defeating North Tonawanda twice, Letchworth twice and the Dawgs, before falling 6-4 in the championship to the host Wellsville Dawgs.
