Ike’s Talasky earns top honors in Region 4

It was another banner year for junior TerryLee Talasky and the Eisenhower girls track and field program and they were rewarded when the District 10 all-region teams were officially released on Sunday.

Talasky, who earned fifth place in the 400 at the PIAA championships, was named Region 4 Co-athlete of the year for the back-to-back-to-back team champions, sharing the honors with Carli Culver of Titusville.

On top of that, Talasky also earned all-District 10 honors.

Eisenhower, as well as Youngsville dominated, accounting for over half of the first and second team honors in Region 4.

Talasky was first team in the 100, 200 and 400, as she also competed in the 200 at the PIAA championships and teamed with sophomore Delaney Nizzi and freshmen Hope Hefright and Caroline Smelko for first team in the 4×4 relay. Nizzi also earned individual honors in the 300 hurdles, an event in which she broke the school record at the District 10 championships.

Fellow Lady Knight Kirsten Baran, who flirted with the school record in the shot put, garnered the first team nod in that event.

For Youngsville, Brooke Messinger capped her terrific high school career by earning first team in the 1600 and second in the 800 and 3200. Teammate Naomi Swartzbaugh, who broke her sister’s school record in the 100 hurdles, got first team in that event and second in the 300 hurdles.

Eisenhower’s Tiffany Work highlighted the second team in the 100 hurdles and in the 4×1 relay with Patricia Bortz, Cameran Edwards and Emily Wheeler.

The full teams can be seen below.

For the boys, Eisenhower’s Jonah Samuelson, the District 10 champion in the 110 hurdles, teamed with Troy Myer, Carter Knapp and Kelly Glotz for first team in the 4×1 relay, while Youngsville’s Owen Engstrom, who finished third and just missed qualifiying for states in the triple jump, earned first team honors in that event.

Youngsville’s Aaron Morris and Eisenhower’s Willy Hoffman were among those selected to the second team, the full list of which can be seen below.
