Region 3 boys track and field featured a young man who broke a state record, and yet it was a different team that won the team championship, speaking to just how competitive it was.

Journey Brown was the athlete, as the Meadville senior and Penn State football commit broke the state record in the 100, but Corry earned the team title.

The Warren Dragons competed with both and were well represented, with Blake Ristau and Troy Shattuck leading the way.

Ristau went out as a senior and earned first team honors in the 1600 and 3200, while Shattuck, a junior, did so in the 400 and 800. The duo also teamed with Mitchell Bryant and Beau Paris for first team in the 4×4 relay.

Ben Thomas also garnered first team honors in the 200.

Bryant also earned second team in the 300 hurdles, as did Kyle Adams in the triple jump. Adams teamed with Marvin Bryant, Nathan Edwards and Thomas for second team in the 4×1 relay.

Brown was named Region Athlete of the Year.

On the girls side, Trinity Wennberg was named first team in the long jump, while Naomi Hahn, Lydia Latimer, Olivia Ashbaugh, Bri Ristau and Michaela Lind got second team.

Latimer was named in both the high jump, an event in which she repeated as D-10 champion, as well as the 400. Hahn, meanwhile, had a stellar freshman season, breaking the Warren County Track Meet record in the 1600 and qualifying for states in the 3200.
