Blair’s offense erupts in win over Post 658

Blair batted around in every inning on its way to a 26-3 win over Youngsville Post 658 Wednesday.

Blair sent 15 batters to the plate in the first, 10 in the second and 16 in the third. Each hitter scored at least one run and had at least one RBI.

Blair scored 10 in the first inning. Aidan Morrison got things started with a 2-RBI triple. Brady Blair bounced a bases-clearing ground rule double over the right field fence later in the inning to plate three more runs.

Youngsville answered with a 3-spot in the bottom of the inning. Drew Williams and Sam Hoover drew consecutive one-out walks and Dakota Chase drilled a double to center to score Williams. Two batters later, Curt Darling sliced a ball to right, scoring Hoover and Chase.

Blair picked up four runs in the second thanks to a pair of Youngsville errors.

“We put the ball in play a lot tonight,” said Blair coach Jeff White.

Blair closed the game with a 12-run third inning. Colby Johnson had three RBI on a pair of singles in the inning. Blair also had three RBI in the inning with a single and a walk.

Johnson finished the game 3-3 with five runs scored and three RBI. Andrew Egger finished with three hits, three runs scored and a pair of RBI. Egger also pitched a scoreless inning, his first time on the mound this season, giving up one hit and striking out two.

“‘Eggy’ had a good day for us with the three hits and he threw a good inning,” White said.

Morrison and Blair each finished with three RBI. Ben White reached safely four times, scored four runs and stole a base.

Post 135 13, Corry 12

COLUMBUS – It took nine innings and a whole lot of back-and-forth, but Nick Hussey’s RBI infield single in the top of the ninth ultimately lifted Post 135 to a thrilling 13-12 win over Corry NSB on Wednesday.

Trailing 10-4, Corry scored seven runs in the bottom of the sixth to take an 11-10 lead, only to watch Post score two in the top half of the seventh to re-take the lead, 12-11. Corry tied it in the bottom half of the frame, which led to Hussey’s game-winning hit.

Corry went quietly in the bottom of the ninth on a strikeout and a pair of groundouts.

Derek Knapp went 3-for-4 with a double for Post 135, Lance Baldensperger 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, Seth Baldensperger 3-for-5 with a double and Hussey 3-for-5 with a triple.

Post 135 returns to action on Monday at Youngsville Post 658, while Corry travels to Legion Field to take on Blair.
