Warren rolls past Oil City

CORRY — It was a home game for Oil City, but Corry may have been the only place Warren’s softball team could have visited the Oilers on Friday.

Corry has a turf field, which allowed the teams to get the Region 6 matchup in. Even then, with a 5:30 p.m. start after Oil City and Corry played there, the lightning was on its way.

Warren struck early and often in a 17-0 three-inning win that ensured the game would sneak in.

Maddie Loutzenhiser was 3-for-4 with two doubles, three runs and three RBI for Warren, which improves to 10-2 overall and 6-2 in the region. Alexis Nyquist was 2-for-3 with a double, three runs and two RBI from the leadoff spot, and Megan Wortman and Gracie Wood added two hits each. Grace Wortman also doubled and scored twice with two RBI.

Eleven batters had at least one hit for the Dragons in the 16-hit attack.

In the pitching circle, Ellie Lobdell struck out six over three one-hit innings for the win.
