Latimer repeats as D-10 high jump champion

Warren's Naomi Hahn will be going to the PIAA Track and Field championships in the 3200 meter run.

GENEVA, OH – Lydia Latimer did it again!

The defending District 10 Class 3A champion in the high jump had a repeat performance on Saturday at the SPIRE Institute, winning with a leap of 5-1, edging Corry’s Ryann Brundage.

It was part of a big day for Latimer, who also took second in the 400 and sixth in the long jump and teamed with Michaela Lind, Olivia Ashbaugh and Bri Ristau for a fifth place finish in the 1600 relay.

“We are very pleased with how the district meet went,” said Warren coaches Kevin Dustin and Elizabeth Beardsley. “We had a lot of personal bests and brought home a lot of hardware.”

Naomi Hahn added a silver medal for Warren in the 3200, finishing with a time of 11:41.48, behind only Carlee Constable of Villa (11:30.79), an impressive feat for a freshman. And with Constable opting out of the event at states, that means Hahn will be joining Latimer at the state championships.

Perhaps the most pleasant surprise was hurdler Noah Butcher. Seeded eighth, Butler ran a time of 16.77, good for a second place finish.

Other Dragon finishers were as follows:

Troy Shattuck- (4th in the 400m, 9th in the 800m); Blake Ristau- (5th in the 1600m, 13th in 3200m); Michaela Lind- (5th in the 1600m, 10th in the 800m); Kayla Giambrone- (5th in the 3200m); Ben Thomas- (6th in the 100m, 13th in the 200m, 18th in long jump); Kyle Adams- (7th in triple jump, 21st in long jump); Bri Ristau- (7th in the 800); Devon Navarolli- (10th in the 1600m); Leah Drake- (10th in the 3200m); Olivia Ashbaugh- (11th in the 200m, 12th in the 100m)l Gabby (Ellie) Hahn- (13th in the 200m); Myah Madril- (14th in triple jump, 20th in long jump); Beau Paris- (13th in the 400m); Nathan Eadie-1(6th in the 3200m); Paige McCullough- (17th in long jump, Foul triple Jump); Boys 4x400m Relay 7th (Nathan Edwards, Beau Paris, Blake Ristau, Troy Shattuck); Girls 4x400m Relay 5th (Olivia Ashbaugh, Bri Ristau, Michaela Lind, Lydia Latimer); Boys 4x100m 8th (Kyle Adams, Noah Butcher, Nathan Edwards, Ben Thomas)
