Eisenhower girls take 2nd at Coudersport Invitaitonal

COUDERSPORT – It was a strong day for the Eisenhower girls track and field team at the Coudersport Invitational on Friday.

TerryLee Talasky racked up three first place finishes in the 100 (12.97), 200 (26.20) and 400 (59.93) and teamed up with Delaney Nizzi, Caroline Smelko and Hope Hefright to take third in the 4×400 relay (4:25.82).

Tiffany Work won the 100 hurdles, clocking in under 17 seconds, while Delaney Nizzi made it a clean sweep for the Lady Knights in the 300 hurdles, winning in a time of 4911.

“It was a very good night,” said Eisenhower coach Mike Logue. “We came focused and I thought they really stepped up.”

Kirsten Baran had a big day in the throws, taking second in the shot put at 33-10 13/4, inching ever-closer to the school record. She added a third place finish in the discus at 87-9.

Madi Hultman finished second in the javelin (93-5) and fourth in the shot (29 6 3/4), while Hosanna Senz tied for third in the pole vault (6-0) and Work finished sixth in the high jump (4-5).

“Kirsten Baran was very consistent in the throws,” noted Logue, while also pointing out the wet conditions made the runways for some of the field events difficult to maneuver.

Back on the track, Nizzi finished second behind Talasky in the 200 (28.10) and fifth in the 100 hurdles (17.26).

In the 3200, Alecia Staight crossed in fifth place with a time of 13:43.99. The 4×800 relay team also took sixth.

“It was a total team effort,” said Logue, whose team finished second in the team standings behind host Coudersport. “It was good competition and I was very pleased with our results. All the seniors had a good night – I’m really proud of them. Baran, Hultman, Senz, Work, Straight and Bortz all performed well.”
