Jake Engstrom kissed his home high school wrestling career goodbye (literally) leading before a tight loss 8-7, against Corry’s Joey Perry. Blake Ristau, Nick DeSimone and Jake Fankhouser all came off the mat with decision wins.

Riley Zaffino was pinned by Corry’s Megan Gourley in 1:54, while Alex Weston did not wrestle due to illness.

“It was a great way for our seniors to go out with an exciting win. We were super blessed with seven good leaders for our team this year,” said Johnson.

John Fankhouser went into overtime against Corry’s Nick Lapinski, but suffered a loss of 8-2. Owen Balas, Cummings, and Avery Smith all came off with pins. “Smith was a hero tonight, he pinned a guy and sealed the match for us,” said Johnson.

“This win really builds up our seniors,” said Johnson.

The Dragons will end the regular season on Feb. 15 at St Marys.
