Dragon punter Morrison earns all-state honors
Warren sophomore Aidan Morrison earned his highest honor yet on Sunday, being named First Team All-State 4A punter by the Pennsylvania Football News.
Morrison, who was tabbed Second Team Region 5 and First Team 4A by WesternPaFootball.net, also started at tight end and defensive end for the Dragons.
He averaged 32.6 yards per punt, while also completing 3-of-4 passes for 67 yards out of the punt formation.
In doing so, Morrison joined an impressive group of Dragon punters.
Matt Stapleford earned First Team honors in 3A in 2010 by both the Associated Press and Pennsylvania Football News, while Andrew Breese earned AP Big School honors in 1998.
Morrison becomes the first Dragon to be named all-state since Austin Jerman was honored in 2012 as a First Team defensive back by both the AP and PFN.
Warren County has actually been a hot bed for specalists in recent years. In 2011, Eisenhower’s Nathan O’Brien was named Third Team 1A punter and Youngsville’s T.J. Hardy honorable mention kicker.
Eisenhower’s Cody Crosby also earned second team honors as a punter in 2009 by PFN, while Warren’s Colter Johnson punted at Division I UMass in 2012 and 2013, leading the Mid-American Conference in punting average in 2012.
