Latimer picked up an extra accolade late Monday night when the Pennsylvania All-State Teams were announced, earning one of the 50 spots on the Class 3A list. She was one of six players from District 10 — and one of two sophomores and two middle hitters — named all-state and first-team all-district.

In 96 sets played, Latimer posted team-leading numbers for the Lady Dragons in kills (245), blocks (68) and aces (48). A senior outside hitter, Nelson was named a District 10 Second-Team All-Star after racking up 243 kills, 218 digs, 21 aces and 18 blocks in 95 sets.

The consistent play of Latimer and Nelson at the net helped Warren (11-6 overall, 10-4 in Region 4) finish the regular season tied for second in league play. The Lady Dragons advanced through the D-10 quarterfinals when Central Tech opted out of the playoffs,  then fell to Conneaut in a five-set thriller in the semifinal round.

Warren had one All-District pick in 2015 with Kaitlin Sedon making the third team as an outside hitter in Class 2A. Latimer was joined on this year’s Class 3A All-State and First-Team All-District 10 teams by Fort LeBoeuf’s Sidney Belczyk and Kaylee Young, Conneaut’s Kathryn Ledford and Jessica Snider, and General McLane’s Maddie Soboleski.
