Warren moves to 4-0 with win over Meadville

Margo Loutzenhiser (21) led the Lady Dragons with 17 points in a 53-38 win over Meadville on Saturday.

MEADVILLE — The Warren girls were able to cash in at the foul line 27 times in Saturday’s non-region game against Meadville, and went on to beat the Lady Bulldogs by a final score of 53-38.

Margo Loutzenhiser hit 13-of-13 free throws and finished with a game-high 17 points while Rachel Wilson added 10.

“It was a physical game,” said Warren coach Lisa LaVan. “Basically we took it right at them and tried to hone in on some of the offensive stuff we’ve been trying to fix. I thought they did a really good job getting to the free throw line — we didn’t really shoot that well overall. but we shot well enough from the line.”

Along with foul shooting, the Lady Dragons took advantage of a strong rebounding effort led by Maddie Loutzenhiser’s 12 boards.

“We definitely did a better job rebounding,” LaVan said. “That was one of our goals for the game, something we’ve been trying to fine tune. Hopefully every game we keep getting better.”

Wilson added nine rebounds while Autumn Hultberg finished with five assists and three steals.

Warren (4-0) returns to action Wednesday at St. Marys.
