Lady Lions remain perfect with 3-1 win

Another night, another win for the Warren County Christian School volleyball team.

The varsity moved to a perfect 9-0 with a 3-1 (25-16, 25-15, 23-25, 25-20) win over Calvary Baptist on Tuesday.

“They have really improved,” said WCCS coach Monica Kerr of Calvary. “We had to play a lot more defense and they didn’t give us easy points. We really had to work hard for this one.”

Rachel Brenner had another strong game for the Lady Lions, notching 11 kills, 13 service points and an ace.

“Rachel Brenner is really stepping up,” Kerr noted. “She’s really starting to crush the ball and is hitting with more strategy.”

Also leading the Lady Lions were Desirae Kerr (17 service points, 4 aces, 4 blocks, 4 kills, 15 assists), Lydia Cox (7 service points, 2 aces, 5 kills), Allison Weidner (3 service points, 1 ace, 4 blocks, 6 kills), Becca Erdman (11 service points, 1 ace, 1 block, 10 assists), Kelsey Kelley (18 digs, 8 service points, 4 aces), Allie Marino (2 service points, 2 blocks, 2 kills), Emma Marino (2 service points, 1 kill, 1 assist, 5 digs) and McKenna Phelps (4 kills, 1 assist).

The JV team also remained undefeated upping its record to 11-0 with a 25-9, 25-9 win.

Phelps (8 service points, 1 ace), Rachel Beatty (8 service points, 3 aces, 1 kill, 5 assists), Emma Marino (9 service points, 1 ace, 3 kills, 1 dig), Gracia Clark (6 service points, 1 kill, 1 assist, 1 dig), Kiara Baker (1 ace, 1 kill) and Malina Bohannan (1 kill) paced the Lady Lions.

Both teams will put their undefeated records back in play on Friday when they battle New Life Christian out of Olean (NY).
