Post 135 brings the lumber in win over Corry

Post 135 pounded out 18 hits, including four each from Seth Baldensperger and Mark Reiff en route to 16-3 win over Corry Northwest Savings Bank Tuesday at Old Legion Field.

After a tough 1-run loss to Blair a night earlier, there would be little drama on Tuesday.

On the mound, Adam Munksgard gave up three unearned runs in the second inning, but that was it in getting the complete game win.

The three errors brought up flashbacks of Monday’s game, as it led to Corry taking a 3-2 advantage. That would be short lived, however.

Dom Funari, Reiff and Baldensperger got Post going in the first with two outs, as Funari legged out an infield single, followed by an RBI double off the bat of Reiff and a triple from Baldensperger to make it 2-0.

Post’s bats were quite until the fourth, but they heated up in a big way, again with two outs.

With two on, Adam Irwin laced a 1-1 pitch down the right field line for the second of three triples on the night for Post, as they re-took the lead, 4-3. From there, they continued to add on. Derek Knapp’s RBI single brought in Irwin to close the scoring in the fourth, but their would be plenty more.

Baldensperger’s third hit of the game, an RBI single, followed by a sac fly off the bat of Munksgard keyed a 3-run fifth inning, and Post was able to add three more in the sixth once again with two outs.

Reiff laced an RBI single and, after Baldensperger’s fourth hit, Owen Balas split the gap and showed off his speed, collecting a pair of RBIs and Post’s third 3-bagger of the game.

Not content, Post, which was actually the visiting team on the scoreboard (the game was originally scheduled for the Ballpark in Columbus), saved its biggest inning for last, sending 11 batters to the plate and scoring six more runs in the seventh.

Caleb Dexter’s inside-the-park 2-run home run was the highlight, but Post was able to talk on four more thanks to a pair of bases loaded walks and a Corry error.

In between the offensive outburst, Munksgard wasn’t overpowering, but he was very efficient, facing the minimum in the third, fourth and fifth frames. He was also helped out by a pair of double plays (Knapp-Reiff-Gens and Gens-Balas-Reiff).

Baldensperger finished 4-for-4 with a pair of RBIs and four runs scored, while Reiff was 4-for-5, also with two RBIs and four runs scored. Irwin finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Balas 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Knapp 2-for-5 with an RBI.
