Tidioute boys edge WCCS for 43-38 win

Behind a balanced attack, Tidioute took down Warren County Christian School by a 43-38 count Friday.

McManigle led the way with 15 points, while Jared Veasy added nine.

An 18-8 second quarter turned out to be key for the Bulldogs.

“We played well as a team,” said Tidioute coach Terry Cotterman. “The biggest thing was we moved the ball around well and played as a team. It was a good effort for the kids.”

McManigle added nine rebounds, while Patrick Shields had eight rebounds and six steals and Gus Martin six steals.

Erik Sorensen led the Lions with 14 points.

Tidioute returns to action at Sheffield on Tuesday.

ERIE FIRST CHRISTIAN 45, YOUNGSVILLE 23

ERIE Youngsville hung tough with one of the big boys of Region 3, but ultimately didn’t have enough offense in a 45-23 setback against Erie First Christian on Friday.

Hunter Kallay led a balanced attack for Erie First, which built a 12-point halftime lead by limiting Youngsville to just seven points in the first half.

The Eagles came alive a bit offensively in the second, led by a team-high nine points by Joey Chuzie.

“We rebounded the ball well,” said Youngsville coach Jim Kesterholt. “Defensively, we played well. Offensively, we’re still a work in progress.”

The Eagles will return to action Tuesday, hosting Cochranton in another Region 3 contest.
