The Warren Dawgs, sponsored by Youngsville American Legion No. 658, beat Coudersport 20-0 in their home opener Saturday.

It was another dominating defensive performance by the Dawgs, as they didn’t allow any positive yards and amassed more than 10 sacks, led by Chase Raub with five and Noah Pape with three.

Jeremiah led the defense with 11 tackles, followed by Pape and Raub with nine apiece. Clayton Hammerbeck, Logan Beedle, Hunter Ingerson, Keegan Weissinger, Laine Jackson and Ryan Hilliard also contributed in tackles for the Dawgs. Raub had a strip sack and a forced fumble and Hilliard had a fumble recovery forced by Pape.

Offensively, Lukas Cope took a handoff on the second play of the game, running 43 yards for the touchdown. The Dawgs had 143 yards rushing on the day, led by Cope’s 61 yards. Weissinger, Clay Cummings, Pape, Raub and Johnny Nunez also contributed in the rushing department, with Nunez taking one of his carries 34 for a touchdown. Weissinger had 41 yards passing, including a 12-yard TD connection to Hammerbeck, and PAT passes to Nunez and Raub. Weissinger also had a critical quarterback sneak on fourth down in the third quarter.

For the second straight game, the Dawgs’ solid rushing game was paved by their offensive line of Jeremiah Lyon, Owen Young, Isaiah Cook, Scotty Skidmore and Lucas Copley.

The players of the game were Weissinger for offense and Raub for defense.
