Our opinion: Boating is a boost in Tidioute

We’re reminded quite often about the importance of the Allegheny River in Warren County. Recently, that reminder came from the borough of Tidioute, where an expansion of the borough’s access to the river is in the works with a $500,000 project to expand an existing boat launch from one lane to two, the addition of an ADA-accessible kayak launch and separate canoe and kayak access points. Our opinion: State made crosswalk decision easy

The removal of a mid-block crosswalk in the 200 block of Pennsylvania Avenue West in downtown Warren makes a lot of sense - though changing state standards ended up making the decision an easy one, in our opinion. Police Chief Joe Sproveri told council members that the crosswalk no longer met current PennDOT standards because it is 260 feet from existing crosswalks at Liberty Street and the roundabout at Pennsylvania Avenue and Market Street. Our opinion: Council’s naming change makes sense

In the end we think the naming ordinance approved by the Warren City Council, and recommended by the city Planning Commission, is a good ordinance. The ordinance creates a standardized application and review process for future naming requests involving city-owned parks, facilities, structures and infrastructure.
