In a recent news release this month, Gov. Josh Shapiro announced 50 highway, bridge, aviation, port, bike, and pedestrian projects in 27 counties across Pennsylvania were selected for $54 million in funding through the Multimodal Transportation Fund.
These new investments, the release stated, will improve safety, strengthen local economies, and enhance mobility across the Commonwealth, connecting communities and people to opportunity. In Lower Paxton Township, Dauphin County, $972,000 will support the redesign of the intersection at Prince Street and Houcks Road to make it safer for pedestrians and vehicles. In Allentown, more than $545,000 will create an ADA-accessible bicycle and pedestrian connection between Trexler and Cedar Creek parks; and in Avondale, Chester County, over $645,000 in Multimodal funds will support the full reconstruction of a section along Pennsylvania Avenue.
"When we invest in safer roads, bridges, ports, and transit, we're creating jobs, strengthening local economies, and making it easier for people to get where they need to go -- whether that's to work, school, or a small business on Main Street," said Shapiro. "These projects connect communities across the Commonwealth and keep Pennsylvania moving forward safely and efficiently, no matter how they get around."
Recent road and bridge improvements by PennDOT are noticeable and appreciated. But still, Warren County seems to be missing when funding opportunities arise -- such as the recent mobility improvements.
