Our opinion: Area’s colorful extravaganza

Here at home, we are blessed with the beauty of nature that is evident in autumn. Earlier this week, Pennsylvania’s Department of Conservation and Natural Resources reported “fall colors continue to develop across the landscape in northwestern Pennsylvania. … Trees are not the only plants that provide beautiful fall colors; goldenrod and asters decorate northwestern PA fields with bright dots of yellow, purple, red, and white.”

Across the border, Chautauqua County also is at its peak, according to the I Love New York campaign. For travelers, it is a brilliant and beautiful ride through the region.

But this region is not alone. “Peak colors will continue to spread through the Adirondacks and Catskills, and are expected to arrive in some parts of the … Finger Lakes regions,” according to I Love NY.

This weekend will likely be just as welcoming. For information on foliage around the region — and two states — visit https://www.iloveny.com/things-to-do/fall/foliage-report/ in New York or https://www.pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/newsroom/2025-fall-foliage-october-2 for Pennsylvania.

Starting at $3.50/week.
