Our opinion: Worx must push consultant

Draft branding should be presented to Warren Worx stakeholders at their November meeting — and we’re glad to see that some stakeholders are providing firm direction to consultants rather than blindly accepting the first round of work.

Let’s face it, we’re putting a lot of eggs in the Warren Worx basket. It’s up to us to be pushing the consultants we’re using to ensure the product we receive is as strong as it can be. So it’s encouraging to hear Shawn Walker, a member of the Warren Worx executive committee, said the committee has asked Truth Collective to rework a couple of the ideas that were presented last week “to make it even stronger. (We) essentially held their fee to the fire (and said) we want another round.”

That’s good. As much as we’ve heard that Truth Collective has a good feel for Warren County, the firm doesn’t have as good a handle on Warren County as the executive committee members. If this is the first step in reversing our population decline, it’s imperative that we start on the right foot. A misfire on the branding effort could erode public support for future efforts — and then we’ll find ourselves running in place even longer than we already have been.

Starting at $4.00/week.
