Our opinion: Take notice of roundabout detour changes
An email from a reader over the weekend indicates not everyone was paying attention when traffic detours related to roundabout construction changed on Friday.
Drivers have been seen going the wrong way down Market Street and the wrong way up Water Street as well.
Frankly, that’s a problem.
For those who may have missed it when we published the new detours in Wednesday’s edition of the Times Observer, here they are again:
¯ southbound traffic on Market Street will still use Route 62 to Laurel Street to Pennsylvania Avenue while northbound traffic will use Langdon Drive and Clark Street to get to Pennsylvania Avenue.
¯ westbound traffic on Pennsylvania Avenue will use Fourth Avenue and Laurel Street.
¯ a truck detour for westbound traffic on Pennsylvania Avenue to Market Street heading north will use Pennsylvania Avenue East to the Glade Bridge, US 60 to Ludlow Street and then Pennsylvania Avenue to Laurel Street.
Construction on the roundabout is a headache for all of us driving through the heart of Warren these days. Those headaches are bad enough. Not paying attention as the detour routes change just makes those headaches worse — and potentially dangerous, too.
We’ll do our part by making sure to post traffic changes in the Times Observer, on the front page and on timesobserver.com, as they are announced.
