Our opinion: Circling back on the roundabout

Whatever one feels about the roundabout scheduled to begin construction this spring, one can’t argue with the fact that the current Warren City Council is acting on what they’ve heard from city residents over the past two years.

Who knows if PennDOT will actually stop the construction process, if the city will have to reimburse the state for the money it has already spent on the project or if the city actually has the money to reimburse the state if stopping the roundabout is actually an option. Availability of money is an issue given the wrangling over repairs to the Clark Street parking facility.

Often we hear complaints that elected officials only talk to city residents when an election is coming up. Many take issue that nothing ever changes no matter what city residents say to elected officials.

That’s not true in this instance.

It would have been easy for Warren City Council members to simply say a decision has been made and leave it at that. Council members didn’t do that. Warren residents have spoken clearly.

We don’t have a crystal ball and can’t tell you what the future holds for the roundabout. What we do know is you spoke. And the council listened.
