Our opinion: Cemetery project makes impression

The Patchen Hill Cemetery in Sugar Grove looks the best it has in years thanks to Brady Etter and members of his family.

Etter was looking for an Eagle Scout project when his grandfather mentioned the cemetery on Patchen Hollow Road. Many of the graves in the cemetery were marked only with broken stones or pipes set deep in the ground. There was no sign for the cemetery nor signs pointing to its location.

Etter’s grandfather, Jef Luvison of Roger Luvison & Son Masonry, helped with the heavy equipment needed to pull up the pipes and dig holes to place the new stones while connecting Etter with a New Castly company that provided grave markers and a new, stone Patchen Hill Cemetery sign.

The Patchen Hill Cemetery is a small one, but accomplishing all of this work this was no small task. Kudos to Etter for organizing the project and to all who helped the Eagle Scout complete the work. Families they will never meet, we’re sure, will appreciate the effort, too.

Starting at $3.50/week.
