COVID plan a work in progress

Warren County School District is getting ahead of what could be a major question in the coming weeks. Will the district require face masks once school begins?

At this time, the answer is no.

“If we are concerned about community spread, we could hold a meeting,” Superintendent Amy Stewart said. “We’ll bring the facts to the table and hold a discussion… at that time.”

COVID-19 levels here have not yet sounded alarms. But that is not the case in other parts of the United States. The delta variant is currently wreaking havoc on portions of the South and Midwest driving rates higher.

In Chautauqua County, the wearing of masks indoors is being advocated as virus rates are increasing. Schools there, planning to go in-person, are likely to require facial coverings.

What happens in the coming weeks here remains unknown. As Stewart noted, things can change very quickly with COVID-19.

Starting at $3.50/week.
