Theatre remains downtown gem

The Struthers Library Theatre appears to be in a good place after Wendy McCain’s three years as executive director.

Over the past three years, the theatre’s library room is now equipped with a licensed catering kitchen, the theatre has gotten its liquor license, created Sally’s Encore Theatre bar, restored the Rehearsal Hall, received a $1 million endowment gift from Juliet and Walter Hornburg as well as introduced more regional acts to its stage while increasing sponsorship and membership. New accounting, ticketing and filing systems have also been introduced.

As McCain steps away, the Struthers Library Theatre is poised for bigger and better things in the future. McCain deserves some credit for that. Give credit as well to members of the theatre’s Board of Directors who set the direction for McCain and the incoming theatre director to follow.

With good leadership, the Struthers Library Theatre will be a cornerstone of downtown Warren for years to come.
