By August, we’ll be ready for fair

Thumbs up to the Warren County Fair Board for moving forward with the 2021 Warren County Fair.

Contracts have been set with the carnival company and with entertainment. That doesn’t mean the 90th Warren County Fair will be the same as previous fairs.

Dale Bliss, fair board vice president, said some things may have to be done differently depending on COVID-19 mitigation recommendations and restrictions. All restrictions, with the exception of masks in public spaces, will be lifted starting Memorial Day. Masks will no longer be required once 70% of all adults in the state are fully vaccinated.

Online ticket sales for the fair begin in early June. The fair opens Aug. 10.

Planning such a major event in the tail end of a pandemic is thankless work, because there is no way to please everyone. In our view, however, the fair board has made the right decision to move forward with the fair with appropriate safeguards if they are needed.
