Our opinion: Keeping consistency for vote
The Warren County Board of Elections has done the right thing in replacing a slate of poll workers last week for the Warren South precinct.
Those voters cast ballots in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Last week, elections officials were faced with the choice of either moving the polling place — the third such move in three elections –or replace poll workers who notified Board of Elections officials on Oct. 23 they would not work in the St. Joseph Catholic Church space due to COVID-19 concerns.
Neither option was good, but keeping the location the same made the most sense. We sympathize with the concerns of the poll workers, but in reality COVID-19 concerns can be mitigated even if the space in the church isn’t what everyone would like to see.
New polling site staff have been appointed, and everyone who votes in the Warren South precinct should certainly feel comfortable going to vote on Tuesday.
