Is it too early to pause and give thanks to Warren council members who stood firm and signed on with PennDOT’s roundabout concept? The Jan. 21, 2019, council meeting heard concerns such as the heavy truck traffic, “over weighted” going out, having difficulty negotiating the roundabout and fear of “tipping over” when using the berm; also, pedestrian traffic safety concerns were presented. Unique sights in the wild fill Forest

Over the years, I’ve had an appreciable number of encounters with the wild inhabitants of the Allegheny National Forest and the surrounding area. A good many of these remain etched in my memory as unique experiences which would never have occurred in the suburban environment where I spend most of my time. July is Ice Cream Month and I nearly missed it. Ice cream I think is America’s favorite dessert. Who does not love the cold dessert that can be put into a cone or eaten from a dish? The favorite flavor is vanilla, but chocolate comes in a close second. I love a twist cone that combines the flavors into a swirl. That is my favorite way to eat soft ice cream. A rough beginning to a new week

This is a true confessions column. I tried hard to do what was right, but Mother Nature challenged me today. The tiny chick appeared on our back porch rug yesterday morning. And she just sat there. Time went by. Mother Robin did not come to check on her, and more time went by. When I realized how long she had been crouched there, without moving at all, I decided to find out if she was alive. The Durham Report confirmed the involvement of individuals promoting the Russian collusion hoax. Well before the report, honest news sources named culprits including former FBI director James Comey,assistant director Andrew McCabe, Peter Strzok and the Hillary Clinton Campaign. Earlier,the Mueller investigation came up “empty,” disappointing Donald Trump’s adversaries. Picnic food is some of the best. When I was growing up, we had many picnics. Many of them were informal, organized at the spur of the moment. When that happened, we were most often at my aunt and uncle’s cottage on Lake Erie. The cottage itself was nothing to write home about. It was a one-room floor plan with a porch on the front of it. There was an outhouse that sat across the bridge from the main structure. I might add here that it was very well maintained and was not smelly at all. What fun we had at that cottage!
