It appears that the Democrat party has become divided in their thoughts and actions from what they were even a generation ago. When some in the party use Socialist in the title, one realizes their thinking has significantly changed their beliefs; the values this country has espoused for centuries are now falling by the wayside.
Cal Thomas's article in the Times Observer on July 1, read: "As the saying goes 'This is not your grandparents Democrat Party.' It has clearly gone off the rails." The article lists several examples of radicalism that are surging through the country, quoting House Speaker Mike Johnson in much of it.
"Some Democrats want to erase the border, empty prisons, abolish ICE, pack the Supreme Court to make sure that Democrats never lose power, and allow biological men to play in women's sports. Too many are anti-Semitic and hate Israel. A New Jersey Democrat running for a House seat said she 'stopped going to church' because there were too many people there who had voted for Donald Trump."
Since when does it matter who voted for whom in the church you attend? That instance is just another case of Trump Derangement Syndrome which, unfortunately, is running rampant in this country. The Warren area has certainly seen its share of citizens exhibiting TDS in recent months, as well. For those who suffer with this ailment, dwelling on matters not involving Donald Trump would be more beneficial for themselves and others who are tired of continually hearing the same complaints about him.
If you are for: Biological Males in Women's Sports; Censorship and Limiting Free Speech; Pro Communism/Socialism; Minors getting Gender Reassignment Treatments without parental consent; Abortion for any reason up to birth; Rights coming from Government, not God, You are standing with Democrat/Socialists.
If you are against: Eliminating Government Fraud, Waste, and Abuse; Right to Bear Arms; Legal Immigration Only; Deportation of those illegally in the country; Lower taxes for all families; Pro Law Enforcement including ICE; Strong Defense and Military; School Vouchers giving Parents a Choice in their child's education; Tighter Controls on Government Spending; Unleashing Pennsylvania's Energy; Working toward a color blind society; Parental Rights over State Rights; Acknowledging the Christian heritage of our nation; Voter ID and only US Citizens voting in American Elections You are standing with Democrat/Socialists.
Ronald Reagan gave his Farewell Speech on Jan. 11, 1989, shortly before exiting the presidency. In it he said, "For we must consider that we shall be as a city upon a hill. The eyes of all people are upon us. So that if we shall deal falsely with our God in this work we have undertaken, and so cause Him to withdraw His present help from us, we shall be made a story and a by-word through the world." (Referenced from Matthew 5:14 -16; In 1630 a Puritan leader, John Winthrop, used the metaphor in a sermon concerning the Massachusetts Bay Colony.)
It is disheartening to realize that, because of political radicalism, our country, the city on hill that Reagan referred to, appears to be faltering, maybe too close to being destroyed. During the Cold War we feared a takeover of Communism from outside forces, but now it looks like the threat of Socialism, which could easily lead to Communism, is coming from within. I wonder what he (Reagan) and earlier leaders would think if they knew how far this country has drifted from the ideals that took it to world dominance.
Hopefully, with all the crucial races throughout the country, legal voters everywhere will make it their duty to think with a whole heart and mind and then vote by conscience, not relying on party labels and endorsements.
Only each individual will ever know if the votes he/she casts stray from the family's tradition of always voting a particular party, no matter what issues it defends. God, Family, Country. After 250 years why would anyone choose to interfere with that winning combination, unless they really want this country to fail?
