After nearly a year of debate and litigation, all issues about voting are settled for Pennsylvania, and there have been no changes. Tuesday, Nov. 3 is time for us all to vote. Here are reminders of important deadlines and resources for all Pennsylvania voters.
You can learn about voting in Pennsylvania at https://www.pa.gov/agencies/vote. You can link from there to register to vote, to change your registration (for example, address change), to check your registration if you are unsure about whether you're registered, to request a mail-in ballot, to find your polling place, and more.
The deadline to register to vote or change your registration is Monday, Oct. 19.
If you want to vote by mail or in advance in person, your request for a mail-in ballot must be at your county election office by 5 pm on Tuesday, Oct. 27.
You can request, receive, vote and submit your mail-in or absentee ballot all in one visit to the Warren County Election Office in the Courthouse at 204 Fourth Ave., Warren. You must apply for your ballot by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 27, but may drop the ballot at the Election office until 8 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3.
If you are requesting a mail-in ballot for the first time, either in person or on-line, you will need to show identification. If you are voting at a polling place for the first time (if you moved, for example), you will need to show identification. Visit the state voter site mentioned above to learn what kind of identification is needed.
You can learn about the candidates at VOTE411.ORG and at SPOTLIGHTPA.ORG.
It is a great privilege to vote securely, privately, and with confidence in the administration of our elections. Our Election Board in Warren County and the staff of our Election Office work so hard to ensure free and fair elections, and we are very fortunate to have these dedicated civil servants. We'll see you at the polls!
