Is U.S. on a troubling path?

The conservatives’ Project 2025 Plan is to seize control and the plan is working.

The Federalist Society founded in 1982 with an annual budget of $18 million has determined who the GOP considers for federal judge appointment, including the Supreme Court. The Heritage Foundation founded in 1979 has a 2023 budget of $22 million (tax exempt) and has promoted state legislatures’ gerrymandering, voting restrictions, and the GOP has had its platform replaced with the Heritage Foundation’s political agenda.

The emphasis is on gaining control of government as opposed to policies thus we saw acceptance of any and all viewpoints which oppose the Democrats – the KKK’s David Duke, white nationalists who chanted “the Jews will not replace us” in their 2017 demonstration at the University of Virginia, listeners of radio talk show Steve Bannon’s insistence of the need to “deconstruct the administrative state,” etc.

The net results are a conservative Supreme Court out of step with the majority of Americans, a Republican Party lacking a clear political platform consensus on specific policies, Fox TV focusing on the Biden family and the southern border mess which is of both parties’ making, the GOP House of Representatives majority at war with itself and out of business for three weeks, a confused and disgusted nation, and increased aggressiveness from our foreign adversaries. Wow, talk about being careful about what you wish for.

When and how will the GOP get back to establishing a coherent political platform and rejecting kooks, Neo-Nazists and such? Permitting an individual (Donald Trump) with his sociopathic nature to determine policy positions and individuals’ political fate are merely more of the same dangerous chaos.

The truck rear of a local contractor sports the decal “finally we have a man (Trump) with gonads.” I wish we did — the eunuch-laded GOP and our democratic government desperately needs them now.

We have a Speaker of the House who believes God wants him to be a 2020 Presidential election denier. It seems like we are living in a comedic Woody Allen movie or worst yet a Fellini fantasy film.

If one has the feeling of things being manipulated from afar and above, it’s understandable. Hopefully, this too shall pass.
