Afterthoughts

An occasional collection of vignettes from events and public meetings in Warren County that never make it into news stories because…well, you’ll see.

Hearing no objections

It had been a while, but at the recent meeting of the City of Warren Redevelopment Authority, I witnessed my favorite reorganizational tradition. A member who was not present at the meeting and who was not already the president/chairman/honcho was nominated and appointed to chairmanship. The new guy got vice-chair. There are two seats open on that board if anyone is interested… and it does not meet before 8 a.m… yet. Members are willing to consider changing the meeting time if it would encourage new membership.

Burrowing in

The board of education discussed bringing the tradition of donkey basketball back to the district. At least two discussions later, a committee member was still hung up. “I’m sitting here and I can’t get my mind off of donkeys.” They are said to be stubborn animals.
