Sad results

Dear Editor,

This letter is for anyone out there that hasn’t yet figured out that Donald Trump is a pathological liar and doesn’t care about anybody but himself.

If that is you then you haven’t been paying attention or you have a net worth of at least several hundred million dollars and don’t care. If you don’t fit either of those categories then I don’t have an explanation for your apathy. So far in 10 months the Trump administration has become the Trump Regime (government by dictator); they have destroyed our humanitarian aid programs around the world causing the deaths of millions of people by starvation or disease.

They have decimated every government agency through mass firings. They have alienated our allies around the world.

They have upset world trade with tariff chaos. They have discarded every norm, eliminated ethical behavior, broken every bothersome law, ignored court orders and shredded the constitution.

They have replaced strong leadership with incompetent loyalists that obey Trump’s illegal orders.

They have weaponized the government against the American people, especially those that have offended Trump. They have frightened the Republican Congress (House and Senate) as well as many state and local republican office holders into sniveling cowards afraid to speak a cross word to or about their dear leader.

These things have made us less safe, less healthy and less free. Life will be harder and poorer under Trump. The Republican Party is no longer pro-democracy or pro-Christian.

Dear Editor,

Ever see the movie, “On the Waterfront?” The most memorable scene of the Best Picture of 1954 features a washed up boxer played by Marlon Brando telling his manager/brother “I coulda been a contender. I coulda been somebody!” depicting his brother’s fight-fixing betrayal of Brando’s championship prospects and principles for quick, easy money.

I see a parallel between Brando’s brother’s treachery and the current President’s treachery. Trump’s indifference to the common person, his untruthfulness, and his relentless quest of money and ultimate power betrayed citizen supporters’ hopes for something better and he has caused devastating harm to our representative democracy.

Trump’s supporters were promised good paying jobs, affordable medical care, the end of foreign wars, and lower grocery prices. Government would clean up its act and common sense would rule. “It will be easy and fast,” he promised.

He assured us climate change was a hoax and that he was a persecuted victim of “witch hunts.”

Today, America is worse off. Unemployment is up, as are job cuts. Grocery prices are up. Increasing requests for government SNAP food help is being denied while congressional approved funds are available. People in Africa are starving without our USAid. Congress was “shutdown” endangering us on many fronts, Federal courts are ruling Trump behavior anti-Constitutional and his orders violate international law on the high seas and violate due process at home.

Meanwhile, Americans still want/need something better. Trump’s MAGA is not the answer. Trump sold us out. He tried to deceive us again when he recently altered his Thanksgiving Dinner food list, like switching from a Cadillac to a Chevy, to support his inflation deception.

Brando’s brother screwed over his brother. Trump, with help from his friend Jeffery Epstein and others, put the screws to all of America.

We coulda been better off. He shoulda looked out for us. Trump took advantage of the people’s trust and support.
