Masking the issue
Dear Editor,
Why is it that the Democrats want to de-mask the ICE agents? Maybe it is because they want their identity to be known so that their lives and family members’ lives can be threatened and possibly murdered.
Maybe it is because they do not want the agents to be doing their jobs of deporting the illegal alien voters. Or maybe it is just as simple as the Dems are jealous of the masks that the agents are wearing due to the fact that these masks are serving a legitimate purpose unlike the paper masks that they forced on us during the COVID years.
The only thing those paper masks stopped was the spread of common sense! About three weeks ago I witnessed a lady protesting in front of the Warren County Courthouse holding a sign that read “MASKS OFF ICE” as she was wearing a paper COVID mask! Really? Are you serious?
What are you afraid of? Don’t answer that as I already have the answer.
Where was the outcry by the Democrats during the 2020 summer riots when all those criminals were running around committing various crimes to include murder while wearing not only masks but uniforms like antifa? Or like the BLM members?
Nope. Didn’t hear a peep out of a Democrat then! As a matter of fact Democrats actually walked the streets arm in arm with those rioters.
I often wonder why the rioters who are protesting the ICE agents today are not being treated like the criminals were at the capitol building, because maybe if they were and the law being utilized fairly and equally these riots would not be happening. Another thing that would help in stopping these riots is if U.S. Sens. Chuck Schumer, U.S. Reps. Maxine Waters, Cory Booker, Hakeem Jeffries and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi — just to name a few — would act like leaders that they were elected to be instead of a 5 year old kid that doesn’t get his way so he takes his ball and goes home!
The Democrats really didn’t start acting like this until they realized that the border is going to be more secure than ever, knowing that for at least four years their illegal voters are going back to or are going to remain in Mexico! The best part about this is that the border is secured by using the laws that have been on the books for decades that the Democrats introduced!

Fair redistricting
Dear Editor,
When legislators draw voting districts to benefit their political party and jobs for elections, that’s gerrymandering. This is currently in national news being tested with actions in Texas, California and other states.
Currently, PA House Bill 31 and Senate Bill 131 amends the PA Constitution by replacing the “Legislative Reapportionment Commission” with an “Independent Redistricting Commission” to draw both congressional and state legislative voting districts. The bill defines transparency and using public input, clear and prioritized mapping standards. The commission will consist of 11 members — four voters registered with each of the two major political parties, and three voters not registered with either major party, plus other requirements with eligibility, restrictions on future government service, and diversity.
Local citizens are asked to contact House and Senate legislators — Representative Kathy Rapp, and Senator Scott Hutchinson now to move the bills. Urgency is on passing the bills to meet adding a Constitution Amendment requiring passing bills two consecutive years, hearings, etc. to be on the election ballots before the 2030 census when new maps are drawn.
To learn more about PA “Independent Redistricting Commission”, Carol Kuniholm – chair of the Fair District PA will be speaking at the Erie Jefferson Education Society – Monday, Aug. 25, 7 to 8:30 p.m., and Tuesday, Aug. 26, 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Corry Satellite location at Corry Higher Education Council, 221 Center St., Corry. Topic is “Redistricting Reform, Why is Matters.” Admission is free and registration can be done at the Jefferson Educational Society web site.
