Failing Democrats

Dear Editor,

The most recent polls, showing that the American people are not wholly satisfied with the performance so far of President Donald Trump and the Republican Congress, are not surprising. It would be impossible even for Jesus Christ Himself to gain the acceptance of the Democrat Party, their media propaganda machine and their brainwashed voters, if He was a Republican.

If anything is surprising, it is the reported fact that the aggregate rate of Americans’ approval of the Democrat Party is less than one in three, the lowest since 1990. Little wonder, after eight years of Barack Obama and his “fundamental transformation” and the things he did and tried to do to our country; after four years of the bumbling Joe Biden and the things he did and tried to do; after Nancy Pelosi aiding and abetting their attempts at instituting socialism and the things she did and tried to do; and now hapless Sen. Charles Schumer trying to pick up the mantle and run with it.

Undoubtedly, the idiocy represented by the likes of “The Squad” and their cohorts factors into the disapproval. Apparently, we’re too fed up with the falsehoods the Democrats are, once again, spreading in a desperate attempt to torpedo President Trump’s amazing short term success since his second election. Reprising the tactics used in his first term, none of them have learned the error of their ways from the truth leaking out about the dirty methods used and the lies they told.

The Democrats are adrift and directionless in a sea of their own lies and deception. Their political advisers seem to be post-graduates in deceitfulness in the pursuit of power.

They seem to care not a whit for the good of the country. Which is very sad and dangerous, because the country needs a strong and credible two-party political system. But that will never happen if the Democrat Party maintains its present course.

Energy strategy

Dear Editor:

Pennsylvanians could be forgiven for feeling a bit whipsawed when it comes to recent energy-related news here in the Keystone State.

On one hand, the recently signed federal “One Big Beautiful Bill” pulls back from recent progress that has been made in clean energy production, limiting our energy options instead of supporting an “all-of-the-above” energy strategy.

That means fewer jobs, less economic growth and an electric grid that will become increasingly strained under continued and unprecedented demand for more power.

On the other hand, U.S. Sen. Dave McCormick and President Donald Trump were in Pittsburgh recently to announce a whopping $90 billion in energy and technology investments in Pennsylvania. Among them is a plan from Westinghouse Electric Company to build 10 new, large nuclear power plant reactors across the U.S. – expected to generate $6 billion in investment and 15,000 new jobs in Pennsylvania alone.

There is widespread support for more investment in safe, reliable nuclear power. Pennsylvania has a strong nuclear legacy and generates the second most nuclear energy in the country. To lead the new nuclear resurgence, we’ll have to exceed our current pace. As other states are making investments in advanced nuclear energy technology, Pennsylvania should be next.

That’s why we’re calling on federal and state leaders to renew their commitment to an energy future that keeps Pennsylvania at the forefront of energy dominance.

That means setting aside party labels and advancing commonsense energy policy that is solution-driven and puts Pennsylvanians first. Nuclear power can play an important role in our clean energy future, but we must also include other energy sources and technologies, such as clean hydrogen and carbon capture.

Only through a comprehensive approach to our energy policy can we ensure our power supply is reliable, clean and affordable – not just today, but for future generations.
