Right medicine
Dear Editor,
Cold, flu and COVID season is right around the corner. And with it comes the possibility of hospitalization for many of us seniors, even with the proper inoculations.
There is a bill in the Pennsylvania Legislature (both the House and Senate) that would alleviate these problems.
It’s called the Patient Safety Act. This bill would standardize the level of care throughout the state However, the current state representative voted against it. And she has long opposed any legal mandate to limit the number of hospitalized staff must be responsible for, all at the same time.
Care includes catching and preventing life threatening incidents and conditions from happening. In addition, care includes giving multiple medications at various times throughout the shift as well as bandage dressing changes, insulin injections (as needed), monitoring of electrical equipment (pacemakers, etc.), discussions and conferring with families, physicians, and other medical personnel. Then there’s the writing of daily notes and reports while admitting and discharging patients.
However, there is a ray of sunshine in House District 65. It is Erin Willman, the democratic candidate and owner of White Cane Coffee. She is committed to vote for the Patient Safety Act so that seniors in hospitals can recuperate faster and go home.

The best choice
Dear Editor,
It is a given that one of the political candidates, Kamala Harris or Donald Trump, will be the next President of the United States. Like it or not, that is a reality.
I voted for Trump and I’ll tell you why. Yes, he is rich, but he had to work hard for his wealth. For many years, he built buildings and businesses here and abroad, gaining the knowledge necessary to build massive structures and a network of “go-to” people that could help him in all kinds of situations. He used the network this month by calling Elon Musk to come and set up satellite communications for the people of North Carolina after the devastating hurricanes. Where was Harris? Hopefully, Musk will advise Trump on all things concerning government technology in his new administration.
While capitalism was the means of building “His Own Wealth,” it was also building a prosperous economy everywhere there was a “Trump Project.” These experiences have made him an exceptional “Problem Solver.”
As a teacher, I had an opportunity to teach classes in problem-solving. It’s a simple process. First you identify the problem. Then, you “brainstorm” possible solutions and try them out. If they don’t work, you have to have a mind that can look at the problem from every angle, turning it upside-down or inside-out, but more importantly relying on your experiences.
Does that sound familiar? That is exactly what Trump did during his first term. He used this process when he found a way to fund and build hundreds of miles of Border Wall while the Democrats blocked his every effort, and when he convinced Mexico to keep the would-be US immigrants in Mexico until each one could be vetted. He used tariffs to “encourage” China to stop sending the ingredients to Mexico for making the drug that is killing thousands of our young citizens, and also for stopping other countries from flooding our country with cheap steel.
The Democrat’s idea of solving a problem is to dump money on it and hope that it goes away. That is what caused the Biden-Harris Inflation!
Another reason for my vote is that Trump understands the economy and the market. He knows that cutting taxes on manufactures brings companies back to the U.S. and gives the consumers more money to spend on those products or to buy a home or start a small business.
“Common sense” describes all of the other reasons for my vote like: no men in women’s sports, improving and supporting the police and the military, prosecuting criminals, securing the freedom of speech and religion, returning the schools to the states, and children belong to parents not the government or the states, schools, administrators or teachers.
We should not have to fight the government.
They work for us, not the other way around. Our country and the world are a mess! Biden and crew, including Harris, bungled the Afghanistan withdrawal, released billions of dollars to Iran which led to war in Ukraine and Israel because Russia, Hamas, China, and now North Korea sense weakness on our part. If we end up in World War III, I want Trump with his skills and policies to be in charge. Harris might be fun at a party, but she just does not have the problem solving skills or the necessary experiences for the job.
