Tax credit helps children
Dear Editor,
New Census poverty data confirms it — we need to expand the Child Tax Credit.
In 2023, the U.S. Census reported the child poverty rate increased last year by 1.3% to 13.7% overall. This translates to millions of children living in poverty.
The data also shows that if the Child Tax Credit was not in place, 2.4 million more people (most of them kids) would have experienced living in poverty. However, this is still less than half of the people who were helped when the expanded credit was in place in 2021.
Years of data show the credit is one of our most effective means to reduce child poverty. And politicians know it. Both Vice President Kamala Harris and Sen. JD Vance have called for expanding the credit if elected.
I urge all candidates running this year to make expanding the Child Tax Credit priority number one when the new Congress and Administration take office in January.

Healthy choices in area
Dear Editor,
I am writing to express my gratitude toward and reelection support of Pennsylvania State Rep. Kathy Rapp and U.S. Rep. Glenn “G.T.” Thompson.
During my 10-year tenure as chief executive officer of Warren General Hospital, Representative Rapp and Congressman Thompson have diligently worked to support our community hospital through allocation of multiple grants and crafting and support of legislation directed towards improving the delivery of rural healthcare. They often ask for input regarding policy and engage in discussion when there are questions about impact on our hospital and community.
I offer that Warren General Hospital and our community need state and national representation who understand rural healthcare. It is also important to appreciate the benefit of organizational independence in terms of decision making and service offerings.
Support through appropriate state and national funding and legislation is critical to our hospitals continued success and independence. The actions taken by Representative Rapp and Congressman Thompson have clearly been in the best interest of our hospital and community. I strongly support their reelection and continued terms in office representing our hospital and community interests.
Richard Allen,
chief executive officer

Vote for freedom
Dear Editor,
This 2024 election is the most important in our lifetime. It will mean the difference between being truly free or living in tyranny. It will define the future of our children and grandchildren.
Donald Trump may be a narcissistic personality, but he is also a Patriot that has risked his life several times for our country. He did not have to take this on. He ran at the request of the military to take this country back legitimately from the corrupt Globalists. He is a brilliant businessman, negotiator and strategist. He is a warrior who believes in our original U.S. Constitution.
It’s hard to believe everything that is being done that defies our Constitution, but is acceptable to the Democratic Party. They installed Kamala Harris without any regard for the voice of the people. This woman can’t even answer a simple question, but they believe she is capable of running the country and negotiating deals with foreign leaders. They don’t understand that she is a Deep State puppet being controlled and taking orders from Barack Obama.
The media is lying about the poll numbers and almost everything they report about Trump. There were approximately 90 to 100,000 people at his rally in Long Island. I believe he will flip the state of New York. People are now standing up to the ridiculous amount of illegals entering our country, the LGBTQ agenda in our schools and the indoctrination of our children, the rising inflation, the rising cost of utilities, food, and gas.
The left continues to spew their vicious lies about Trump like Project 2025, raising taxes, banning abortion. Trump is proposing a national across the board sales tax on new items only, not including food or drugs.
However, there will be no more taxes on your wages, Social Security, tips, and overtime. Liberals who continue to watch Mainstream Media will never break out of the mind control spell they are under. All you need to do is critically think using common sense to see the hypocrisy of the left.
A vote for Harris is a vote for the One World Globalist government. A vote for Trump is a vote for freedom and returning our country to a Constitutional Government. Nobody living on this Earth right now knows the true meaning of being free from debt slavery and true sovereignty. God bless America with truth and freedom.

Stop the suffering
Dear Editor,
The world is watching this country and may be wondering how we as a nation can continue with this group of left-wing zealots in government.
When parents are terrorized for caring about their children and the content of their schools, trouble is brewing. The state has no business usurping parental rights. As governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz allows libraries full of information not fit for children to read, let alone understand. The National Day of Prayer in May gave guidelines for prayer in daily life. It is essential that as it pertains to education that “students would receive genuine academic education, free from agendas, with minds filled with light, not darkness. That we would not call that which is evil ‘good’ and that which is good ‘evil’.”
Kamala Harris has shown her lack of leadership ability during her tenure as VP; she has never been popular except with the democrat party’s power machine. She was “placed” on the ticket twice and one wonders what she has to do to please the powers that be that run this country. Do Americans really believe she can deal with world leaders, especially those who want this country to continue in a downward spiral?
The Joe Biden-Harris administration has proven over and over they deal with tactics that tend to diminish us and embolden those who would control or demolish us. Remember Afghanistan? In all honesty would anyone want her to face an adversary intent on our demise, or Donald Trump whose strength and resolve would give us reassurance? A voter needs to remember under whose administration today’s world problems surfaced.
In early September, Bernie Sanders stated that Harris would turn the way she needed to go in order to win the election. At least there is one truthful person that knows her for what she is. She is running out the clock, trying to avoid the issues; a great many people are allowing this fiasco, and, if elected after all this, we Americans will suffer from her dishonesty.
Just like Biden, the pendulum will reverse and she will be liberal progressive. We can be assured that she’ll bring with her a continuation of the new look of government: overreaching control by means of bribery, deceitful lies, and hoaxes that have been in play all along. Would anyone be surprised if her father’s Marxist ideas loom large in her psyche?
Calling abortion a freedom of choice is far from reality. There are Dems that condone full term abortions, and that is infanticide or more to the point, murder. Is this what this country is coming to, allowing murder to conveniently rid oneself of the burden of a child and responsibilities of parenting?
This is reprehensible and downright sick. Has our society gotten so insensitive to believe it’s OK? Harris couldn’t or wouldn’t share her belief in how late in a pregnancy an abortion could be performed. Moderators never pressed the issue — again. In fact one moderator corrected
Trump saying no states allowed up to birth abortions when he said that there are some that do. Trump was correct in this fact. There are eight states that allow this along with Washington, D.C. I believe millions of voters believe in the sanctity of life and home; we need to make sure it stays this way. The Harris-Walz team won’t give it to you, that’s for sure.
Can this country continue to survive another term with rampant radicalism? Along with electing Trump-JD Vance we need to ensure Dave McCormick will represent us in the U.S. Senate. Robert Casey, a puppet depicting the Democrat machine along with Harris-Walz, is part of the radical big government that controls us and wants to destroy our rights.
Throughout this letter my views are obvious, but whether the reader embraces them, a most important fact needs to be shared. It has been stated that a large percentage of Christians don’t vote. Voting is a right that we can’t take for granted; complacency is not the way for this country to survive, especially in 2024. Every citizen needs to look at the beliefs and policies that each candidate espouses, and vote that person, Republican or Democrat, into office to implement those policies into law.
It’s time to ignore the R or D in front of the candidate and choose the one who will be most beneficial to our “one nation under God.”
