Inconsistency at pump?

Dear Editor,

Wondering if anyone has an explanation on why our gasoline prices are so expensive? This weekend my daughter traveled from Pittsburgh to Russell. She purchased gasoline in Warren at $4.16 per gallon. She purchased gasoline in Slippery Rock for $ 3.18 per gallon. I have heard that we have higher prices because of Pa. taxes but, Slippery Rock is in the same state — 98 cents per gallon is an unbelievable difference.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish the refineries a Merry Christmas. Oil on Tuesday was $74 per barrel. I checked the gasoline price this morn at the same station in Slippery Rock and it is $3.07 per gallon — a $1.08 per gallon difference.

Gary Wareham,

Russell
