Thompson brings ‘sadness’
Dear Editor:
I am writing regarding recent actions and events in the life of our Congressman, Glenn Thompson (15th US District).
On July 19 he voted against a Bill in the House of Representatives entitled the “Respect for Marriage Act.” This bill’s purpose was to protect the right to same-sex marriage federally and to require states to recognize this right.
Three days later, on July 22, the Congressman attended his son’s same-sex marriage. The Thompsons issued a statement that they were “thrilled to attend” the wedding and welcomed their new son-in-law into their family, stating they were “blessed to have a new son enter the family.” As good parents do, they wanted their son to be happy.
But no one else’s son can be happy.
I feel sadness for all those families.
Barbara Lucia,
Warren
