Thinking outside circle
Dear Editor,
Why are we so resistant to change? And why does it often feel like that resistance is merely to be contrary?
I have driven roundabouts, rotariesm traffic circles since learning to drive, especially in New England.
They keep traffic moving and eliminate the frustration of sitting and waiting for the light to change, especially when the traffic is light. There is a small learning curve, but these newer circles are well marked and if you miss your exit, you just go around again. The one in Dunkirk-Fredonia, N.Y., makes getting to Interstate 90 much faster.
The intersection at Market Street and Pennsylvania Avenue is wonky at best and I have watched many people being confused about signals going east.
I was hoping for leadership to bring our little gem of a city into the future. We need forward thinking and encouragement to allow new ideas to blossom as we lose population and business. I do understand the need for questioning and discussion, but what I am seeing is pure recalcitrance.
If we keep our heads in the past, how can we move forward?
Connie Michell,
Warren
