Unfair ruling
Dear Editor,
Should Joe Biden follow through with his promise to appoint a Black woman to the Supreme Court, he could be practicing racism to the maximum.
Don’t get me wrong. If that Black woman is the most qualified from our population, he would be doing well. However, if a black woman is appointed and he doesn’t look at brown, yellow, red, and white women, or a man, he commits racism at its worst.
In America, everyone is created equal. Whether one advances in life is based on one’s determination and work to get ahead. Persons of every color have advanced to positions of leadership in our country.
For our country to move forward, we need the best and brightest as our leaders. At the Supreme Court, we need the top jurists that put on their blindfolds and do their best to make decisions on constitutionality.
I’m bothered by the left, right idea of court stacking. I’m further bothered by the “legislation” that has come from the court. The Supreme Court is to look at cases to provide checks and balances on the other parts of our government. They are to check that legislation falls within the Constitution and that the Executive Branch follows that put forth by the Legislature. Being black, white, or purple is not the issue.
If Biden does not look for the best jurist from the entire population and only looks at black women, he will prove himself to be the most horrible of racists, a failure to his oath as president, and a destroyer of the idea that we live in a free country where everyone has the chance to become the best they can be.
Daniel Reiff.
