Dear Editor,

This is in regard to the article noting that a Lancaster County Democrat Mike Sturla wants to give counties and municipalities the option to enact a 1% sales tax to help raise additional revenue. In my opinion, a tax is never optional for the people who live in a community. This is ridiculous.

Mr. Sturla apparently wants to raise our sales tax so that the tax-exempt entities don’t have to feel the burn. Let’s put it into perspective. Most of us are making anywhere between $8,000 and $50,000.00 a year — give or take — and he wants to increase the tax so that those making millions and billions get more of a break than they already are? I sure hope that we are able to vote this injustice down before our politicians make it so we have no choice in the matter.
