Opportunity in the U.S.
Dear Editor,
The big lie being perpetrated by the liberal media and the Democrats is that Americans should be ashamed of our flag, national anthem and our heritage.
The incessant propaganda espouses that America is racist and oppressive. So let’s hear some truth. Today Japan is hosting the the 2020 Olympiad. In 75 years since the end of World War II, Japan has become a manufacturing and technology giant in the top three of the world’s economy.
Japanese Americans are among the wealthiest and most successful people in America. This is in spite of the fact that socialist President Franklin D. Roosevelt had Japanese Americans interred in concentration camps, stripped of all wealth rights and dignity. Japan recovered brilliantly even though Democrat President Harry S. Truman ordered not only one but two nuclear strikes on Hiroshima and Nagasaki killing tens of thousands of innocent civilians.
In spite of that the Japanese people have not foundered and floundered ceaselessly under a victim mentality.
In fact on a broad scale, Asian Americans out perform and out earn every other racial demographic in America including whites. Today we have Muslim females, Hispanic females and Black females in Congress complaining how racist America is. Again I don’t get it. How can you be oppressed and suffer under racism and get elected to some of the most powerful positions in the world. Try that in any other country in the world. Please.
The U.S.A. has people from nearly every ethnic, and social background who have come here and succeeded.
Since January 2021, under Joe Biden’s watch, numerous illegal immigrants have been detained or apprehended at our southern border. Are they being lured here to be oppressed and and ravaged by the racist and oppressive Americans?
What is oppressive is liberal White Americans subjugating a whole segment of society, both black and white, under the yoke of the victimhood lie for yet another generation. It’s been 155 years since the end of the Civil War. At some point the idea and truth that America is the land of opportunity for everyone must be realized. But opportunity isn’t, nor never was meant to be automatic.
What has made America great is in spite of our failures and weaknesses, we had the freedom to make our opportunities a reality.
Somewhere the victim has to say “Not me, not anymore.” Today I will work to make my life better in spite of challenges and obstacles and teach my children and grand children to do the same and fight and work to improve with each generation.
This applies to every race, religion, creed, color and gender. But only in America is this the Truth, the Whole truth and nothing but the Truth, so help me God.
Dennis Atwater,
Russell
