Adding faith clarity
Dear Editor,
Recently there was a letter to the editor that was titled “Nation needs religion.” Although I agreed with the content of the letter, I have a problem with the title because the word religion is misleading as to the letters content.
I would have to say that the vast majority of the people in this nation have some form of religion. A simple definition from the Dictionary is, “a body of persons or sects adhering to a particular set of beliefs and practices.”
Here are some of the religions and beliefs practiced in this nation, Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Satanism, Voodoo, Wiccan, Interfaith, Atheists and Agnostics.
This nation has a number of religions being practiced, yet we also have an overabundance of sin being committed. Not only are personal sins being committed at an alarming rate as well as an ever-increasing national rate of sins as well. We have religion and ever-increasing sin, we need a Savior, but one has been provided….”Jesus Christ”… for Christianity is neither a religion nor a philosophy, but a lifestyle and relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Jesus says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
Our debt has been paid, eternity is a long time. The choice is yours, “Smoking or non-Smoking.”
