Pray for our country

Dear Editor,

During these troubled times, we all look for the reasons why we are so afflicted. We begin to blame anyone and everything for these problems. However, we must not forget to look to ourselves and the part we may have played in this present day state of affairs

The 2nd Chronicles states: “If My people, which are called by My Name, shall humble themselves, and pray and seek My Face, and turn from their wicked ways: then will I hear (them) from Heaven, and will forgive their sins, and will heal their land.”

Prayer to Save America

O Merciful God, we cry to Thee for pardon and mercy.

We are “an unbelieving and perverse generation.”

We are disobedient, disloyal, and ungrateful to Thee.

We have excluded Thee from our homes, our schools, our hospitals,

our civic structures, places of entertainment and business.

We are no longer worthy to be called Thy children.

Merciful God, spare America! Forgive us!

Save us from the scourge which we have deserved.

Teach us Thy Law, and move our wills to serve Thee henceforth.

Merciful God, please spare America.

This sort of prayer moved the merciful God to spare a sinful race from utter ruin on three outstanding occasions: Prayers of Daniel, Mordecai and Judith. Yes, we can all pray and amend our lives. This will help save America.

Matter of life, death

Dear Editor,

When Donald Trump, who had been a lifelong Democrat, switched parties in 2011, it was because he knew to become president, he would have to carry the solid red states of the South to promote his agenda.

These southern states are the least educated, the least healthy, the poorest, the most polluted, and the most dependent on the federal government. The Republican party, that represents the majority of these people, fights in every way to deny them a quality of education, equal pay, and they also suppress the rights of many to vote. These people pay a tremendous price to support this party, not only in quality of life, but also in the longevity of life.

Trump lies, mortality tables do not. The 10 states with the shortest life span and the five states with the highest rates of cancer are all in “Trump Country.”

When Trump rolled back EPA regulations, it clearly shows he doesn’t care about air and water quality, plant life and wildlife, nor human life.

Trump now wants to expand his base and bring that “deep South” mentality and standard of living to other states, including Pennsylvania. He has said numerous times that he loves the uneducated.

So sit back, listen to his false rhetoric while he dismantles the VA health care system, the U.S. Postal Service, the Affordable Care Act, Medicare, Medicaid, and your Social Security benefits.

Vote blue. The life you save may well be your own.
